We baked a cake or two!

Well I'm no baker, but I was quite impressed with how our cakes turned out for our kid's birthdays this year! I baked this scrummy number 3 cake for our boy Tom in May and WOW my husband can decorate. Ohh to have creative genes!

Then no more than 5 weeks later when our daughter Izzy turned 5, I held my breath as a Rapunzel Tower cake creation was being built in my kitchen, the night before ten 5 year old girls were set to take over my house in all their Rapunzel glory. And then WOW.....! I have to say I was completely bowled over and transfixed by this stunning cake her dad built, as were all the kids.  Maybe cake baking and creating is our new vocation!

We love our Dandi Hearts

This summer we changed our Dandi Hearts collection to incorporate a cute heart within the centre of the flower and recently printed this lovely olive green design for Lucy & Chris.  Hope you had a lovely wedding and we are so pleased you loved your stationery.

Dust off the dress! Its my 40th Birthday!

40 brides and 40 grooms....all in one room! very surreal, yet it made for one intriguing, exciting and quite hilarious evening.  My friend Melissa was on a mission to wear her wedding dress for a second time, not only to have the thrill of wearing that gorgeous dress again but to also prove her husband Edward wrong, that the expensive dress in the loft WOULD be worn twice!  So bring on the husband and wife joint 40th birthday party, celebrate in your wedding dress at a posh venue and invite all your girlfriends to join you. Fabulous evening Mel... once I finally managed to squeeze myself into the dress!

Here's just 17 of the brides and Mr birthday boy Edward himself.

Stephanie Rose

I had the pleasure of meeting with Stephanie at a wedding fayre last summer and I instantly loved her beautiful handmade jewellery and stunning array of flowers.  Her jewellery designs are so unique, from little bo-ho chic hair pins with a touch of english rose, through to the more glamorous tiaras combining precious and semi-precious stones.  Truly delightful!
I was even more pleasantly surprised to see that she has since opened up a flower shop in my home market town of Hitchin so I can pop in whenever I want to purchase some of her gorgeous flowers.
I hope we meet again soon Stephanie!

Cherry Blossom delights

We have been so busy recently in the lead up to summer that we have not had chance to update our website to show all the items available in each collection.  So here are just some of the delights of our Cherry Blossom collection.

Dust off the dress

I am so excited, how many people get to wear there wedding dress twice? Not many, yet thanks to my gorgeous friend Melissa, I will get to wear mine for a second time.  What a great idea to celebrate your 40th birthday with 100 friends and the dress code "your wedding dress".  I just love it....thank you Mel...! And thank you for asking us to design your Invitation, we loved creating this for you.

Don't forget to check back soon for pictures of all the bopping brides. x

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Hurrell

Following our recent post 'A wonderful white wedding' we are now thrilled to share with you some of the stunning photos from this crazy, fun, romantic and completely extreme wedding day of the new Mr & Mrs Hurrell.  The 18th December 2010, was in-fact as reported, the worst snow in 100 years, but without doubt, the mass down pore brought with it truly the best wedding in a 100 years!  Ellie - we are delighted to have inherited such a beautiful sister-in-law and Rich - its so good to see you so blissfully happy - we love you guys.

From this day forward,
You shall not walk alone.
My heart will be your shelter,
And my arms will be your home.
Marianne Williamson

Enjoy peeking into their real life wedding for a wee touch of inspiration for yours…

Royal Wedding Fever

So yes....Royal Wedding Fever is everywhere!.....and unless you have been on a different planet recently you will know that Prince William will marry his girlfriend of 8 years, Kate Middleton this Spring at Westminster Abbey on Friday 29th April.  And there's nothing better than a Royal Wedding to arouse speculation....and no bigger question than 'what will Kate wear?' of course only the finest silk, with covered shoulders as is expected of a Royal bride.  If however she follows the latest bridal trends she could choose a strapless gown, and cover the arm area with a lace shrug, but I somewhat doubt it.

Will Kate live up to Williams Mother', the late Diana that we all so dearly loved? does she really need to? isn't she a strong, beautiful woman in her own right? Is it such really big news that Kate shops in Waitrose to pick up those essentials that we all need from time to time? Yes, we are all talking about the engaged Royals and their pending wedding.

We simply wish Kate and William a blessed future together and in the words of my daughter we wish them 'a fairytale prince and princess happily ever after'.

A Ticket to Marriage

We are just loving this gorgeous piece of artwork launched this week by modo creative.  We think this Personalised, Ticket To Marriage Art Print is a perfect, unique gift for that next wedding or even as a gift to your bride or groom to be! It's always nice to find that 'something a bit different' and this fun, old fashioned raffle ticket inspired artwork with a retro feel is just that. If like me you can't resist, then check out modo at www.notonthehighstreet.com where you may be tempted to buy more than one of their adorable prints.

A wonderful white wedding

18th December 2010, High Wycombe, the worst snow in 100 years… but gorgeous Miss Mole, against all odds made it to the church and became Mrs Hurrell. Slippery roads stopped the all planned 'wedding on a hill' but a wedding there was… albeit at the 'bottom of a hill', bearing a hand written sign 'Wedding now at this church'.  Magical, white and straight from the movies! No longer quite so traditional with guest in wellies, a missing organist and only half the congregation but rather unique and memorable and did I say… white.

The Hurrell's, we loved your fighting spirit and your will to get married no matter what and we wish you a happy, healthy and love filled life together x
